Stuffed Green Peppers

3 Med Green Peppers               1/2 tsp salt         1 c shredded American cheese

 1 lb ground beef or turkey        dash of pepper        1/2 c uncooked long-grain rice         

 1/3 c chopped onion                1-1lb. can tomatoes  1tsp Worcestershire sauce

 3 cloves garlic                     1/2 c water       

 Cut peppers in halves and clean. Precook peppers in boiling salted water about 5 min; drain. Sprinkle inside of peppers with salt.

 

Cook ground beef or ground turkey, chopped onion, garlic cloves (minced) till meat is lightly browned. Season with salt and a dash of pepper. Add can tomatoes, water, uncooked rice, and Worcestershire sauce. Cover and simmer till rice is tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in shredded American cheese. Place peppers in a baking dish; fill with rice mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Makes 6 pepper halves. Serves about 3.
