Mr. Beekman
Just wanted to say thanks to Mr. Beekman.
If not for him and the track team I may not have
graduated. He pushed me
when I thought I was through. I am sure I would
have dropped out like my
brothers if it weren't for him. He encouraged me
to try out for the track
team so I gave it a try. (never thought I would
like running so much). I
wasn't the smartest guy in school, but he never
gave up. We had some good
times in track and in class.
Thanks Coach, you made a big difference in my
life.

Martha Fryfogle
I realize that this comes too late, but in my
belief system, she will know.
Mrs. Fryfogle took the time to sit and talk
with me on many occasions, realizing that I had some potential even at a time
when no one else believed it, or they just didn’t let me know that they did.
The most important talks were not ones of school work and social acceptance,
but about life in general. It is with trepidation that I admit that without
Mrs. Fryfogle’s understanding, patience, and acceptance of me as an individual
rather than as a job obligation, not only would I not have graduated but I
would have never reached my 18th birthday.
For her family, I do not have to tell you what
a special and gifted woman she was. I am sure you know it, but I say it because
it needs to be said.
For Mrs. Fryfogle, yes, there are times I
still feel the way I felt in your office, but even today, more than 20 years
later, your words comfort and strengthen me, and I “weeble” J.
